Of Course. If the church's mission is to wield power and influence, then a united church is of paramount importance. But if it is to be the pillar and ground of the truth, then it tolerates heresy to its peril. The reason the Episcopal Church faces a major issue--it has been selling out doctrine and morality in terms of unity for a long time. It has lost both.
